From the port of Akureyri, Iceland, we took a Jewels of the North excursions that took us to some stunning natural wonders. We started with a unique area with Pseudocraters (pseudo volcanic craters) that look like volcanic craters but aren't. We then went to a geothermal area with bubbling mudpots and gurgling sulfur cauldrons with a small of rotten eggs. Our next visit was an amazing nature reserve that is several walkways through lava formations with arches and caves. The legend says these are all trolls who partied too much and froze in the sunlight! Finally, we see Godafoss, the waterfall of the Gods, where the legend says a man threw statues of the Gods into the waterfall after Iceland became a Christian country. Along the drive we see sheep, Icelandic horses and Icelandic horses with foals (babies)! This showcases the natural beauty of Iceland.
