The Wicked movie is heading to theaters, reimagining the story of the hit stage show on the big screen. The film is the first part of a two-chapter story with Wicked Part Two set to arrive in theaters next year.

Ahead of the release of the highly acclaimed Wicked adaptation, director Jon M. Chu and actor Jonathan Bailey (Fiyero Tigelaar) discussed the film with CBR's Kevin Polowy. Chu spoke about taking on the job of directing Wicked, noting how it was a full-circle opportunity for him as someone who grew up as a lifelong fan of The Wizard of Oz. He even recalled the first time he saw the original Wicked stage show, realizing at the time that it would be perfect for a feature film adaptation. Of course, he had no idea back then he'd be the person who'd take the helm for that film one day, and that's not something he's taking lightly.
