US Attorney General William Barr was in the hot seat on Tuesday -- facing a grilling from lawmakers at a Congressional Committee in Washington DC.
Democrats have accused Barr of politicising the US Department of Justice to favour President Trump. The acrimonious hearing covered a wide range of topics, including election security and alleged interference in criminal investigations of Trump and his allies. But front and centre throughout the five-hour session was the nationwide crackdown on protesters by federal agents. Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler accused Barr of using law enforcement officers to create a "photo op" for the President's re-election campaign.
