A team has been assembled in South Africa to bring hundreds of illegal miners to the surface.
The miners are down inside a disused gold mine in the northwest province where a tense standoff with local police has been escalating.
Police have stopped supplies from entering the mine to draw the miners out but one body has reportedly been found so far.
