I love living the 'pura vida' in Costa Rica. And I believe Costa Rica is the foundation I needed in my life in order to build a stronger house in my life full of love, empathy, understanding and compassion. The house in Costa Rica is not complete and is still under construction but it is getting there. Like learning Spanish for example. Gringos an expats who retire to Costa Rica, live in Costa Rica and immerse themselves in the culture by learning Costa Rica Spanish really do well here. I have circled myself with the right architects, builders and labors to complete my project of a productive life in Costa Rica. If you are not fluent in Spanish when you arrive in Costa Rica, you will make mistakes, everyone does. But that's half the fun. I have a horrible understanding of Spanish but I got my 'bad spanish' stories too, regardless. Even when you don't speak much Spanish like me, you still can find yourself in awkward situations if you don't undertand what is being said. My story is not of speaking (although I have those spanish stories as well) mine was reading. lol This is my bad Spanish story, 'Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Learn Spanish in 10 minutes ⏳ yeah right🙄 Spanish Gone Bad'. The good news is, it happened like 14 years ago, so I've cut the spanish stupidity down at least by half.... hahhahaha

Here' just some of the areas gringos try to learn spanish through immersion and conversating with the locals- La Fortuna, Nuevo Arenal, El Castillo, Tiliran, San Ramon, Grecia, Atenas, Tamarindo, Samara, Nosara, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Montezuma, Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita, the Osa Peninsula, the areas outside San Jose- Escazu, Santa Ana, Heredia. This is the short list of areas gringos are learning Spanish. The BEST places to learn Spanish are usually 'just' outside the places I just mentioned... lol.
