2/25 update: American Health provided a recall hotline: (888) 534-6370. You can request a refund through this hotline. If possible, keep record of your UPC 120 capsule or 60 capsule, lot number off the bottle, and be prepared to give your name and address to customer service.
2/19 update: The Amazon seller, VitaminLife, of this recalled product took four days to respond and needed me to send a record of the order on Amazon like they didn't too have access to the same accounting. After sending them my receipt clearly stating VitaminLife as the seller, VitaminLife denied any accountability and referred to Amazon. I contacted Amazon directly through chat and escalated inquiry, escalation against the seller and the purchase amount was refunded to the original payment method of buyer. My recommendation, avoid VitaminLife.
Public Service Announcement Safety Update, Recall Notice regarding American Health Klamath Shores Blue-Green Algae, 120 Capsules. I purchased this for $16.56, from VitaminLife on Amazon June 10, 2018, with affected UPC #076630025423 Lot #199658 expiration date 10/2020. I reached out to VitaminLife (seller on Amazon) and Vitacost (provider of recall notice) and American Health (product maker) and have heard back 02/16/19 from Vitacost, asking for photos of the bottle in order to issue refund. From my research today, the product is archive listed, but no longer searchable or available for sale on Amazon, back ordered on vitamin stores, and not listed at all on the American Health website. - Wilson
Context: Recall Notice issued August 13, 2018 Natural Products Group is voluntarily recalling lots 178747, 199658, 264855, 33766, 959219, 964323, 982016, and 982017 of American Health Klamath Shores Blue Green Algae capsules (UPCs 076630025423 120 Count and 076630025409 60 Count) because of higher than usual levels of microcystins found. As a naturally harvested ingredient, microcystins may be found in blue green algae blooms. If taken over the long term in high doses, microcystins may pose a human health concern, specifically to the liver. Customers who purchased the product are urged to discard any remaining product and discontinue use.
