Demonstrators from 'Just Stop Oil' glued their hands to roads and climbed on top of vehicles, causing disruption to deliver their message.
They aimed to create chaos until the government U-turns on recent plans to secure more oil and gas supplies over the next ten years.
Drivers in some areas - already faced with increased fuel prices - complained about queues and closed petrol stations as a result of the protests.
