Public sector organisations and universities are increasingly recognizing the value of community and peer research methods as a means of gaining better insight and co-producing services and policy with communities. However, too often research is something done to, rather than with or by local communities.
Together with UCL East and London Borough of Newham, we are hosting two sessions to explore citizen-led prosperity, identify barriers and enablers to community-based research, and discuss strategies for shifting power in local research partnerships to create community-led and owned research.
Session 2 – How do we shift power to create community-led research?
In session two, we will delve deep into the question of power dynamics in research partnerships and how we can enable truly community-led research.
London Borough of Newham and Compost CIC will share their latest work scoping a community-led research network with marginalised communities. A range of researchers and practitioners will also share how they drive community-led research.
We will collaboratively explore tough issues through interactive workshops such as:
Working with under-represented and seldom heard communities
Developing inclusive, culturally rooted research methods and practice
Promoting equity in community research partnerships
Transitioning to community-led research priorities and agendas
Leveraging community insights to drive policy change
Who is this for?
This session is ideal for policymakers, researchers, and community practitioners with some experience in community, peer or participatory research and want to engage in practical exercises and discussions.
By the end of the workshop, you will have a deeper understanding of the issues around community research and the know-how to carry it out it out in inclusive and impactful ways. Participants will also receive workshop outputs and tools to apply to their context.
Don't miss this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share your experiences, and make a real impact in your community.
Reserve your spot now and be a part of the transformative journey towards community-led research and citizen-led prosperity.
