Flooding is a regular occurrence in Central Europe—one not limited to the coast or low-lying river valleys, but nearly ubiquitous due to off-floodplain flash flooding. Still, historical data alone are not sufficient to estimate losses from future events, as the number and value of exposed properties continue to grow. AIR’s Inland Flood Model for Central Europe provides a fully probabilistic approach for determining the likelihood of losses from all manifestations of floods, including the most extreme events that exceed the scope of historical experience.
