West Side Avenue in Jersey City is a Filipino food lover's paradise. A quick train from Manhattan and I was digging into sinigang and longganisa and navigating the many wonders of halo-halo. In a way, halo-halo symbolizes my journey learning about the cuisine of the Philippines, every time I dip my spoon in, I discover a new item, a new surprise, a new treasure. The warmth of this "Little Manila" Filipino community is felt right away, the kind people are the perfect guides for a hapless outsider like me just trying different Filipino dishes and learning along the way. Go, visit, just ask "what should I try?", you won't be disappointed.
