Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Faster Way to Suppress Subtotals in an Excel Pivot Table.
Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this video, I'll be sharing a helpful tip for those of us who frequently work with pivot tables. But before we dive into that, I want to invite you to check out our upcoming seminars. We have a bunch of them scheduled for September, starting with the SouthEast Accounting Show in Atlanta on August 27th. Then, we'll be touring Alabama in September, with stops in Montgomery, Birmingham, and Orange Beach. We also have seminars in Springfield, Missouri and a three-day bootcamp with Mike Alexander and myself, which we're moving to the east coast this year. If you're interested, head over to MrExcel and click on the upcoming seminars tab for more information.
Now, let's get into the tip. During a recent seminar, I learned a cool trick from one of the attendees, Brian. He showed me a faster way to get rid of subtotals in a pivot table. Normally, I would double-click on the field and change it from automatic to none, but this requires multiple clicks for each subtotal. Brian's method, on the other hand, only requires one command. Simply select all the rows with the subtotals you want to remove, right-click, and choose "hide". This does the same thing as manually changing each subtotal to none, but in a fraction of the time. A great time-saver for those of us who work with pivot tables frequently.
I always love learning new tips and tricks from my seminar attendees, and I'm sure there are many more out there. If you have any helpful Excel tips, please share them in the comments below. And don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more Excel tutorials and netcasts. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time on the MrExcel netcast!
