In the Anat Baniel Method (ABM) the brain is understood to be a large, non-linear, self-organizing dynamic information system that, in turn, organizes the person as a whole – physically, emotionally, cognitively and socially. Movement is seen as “the language of the brain” and the non-separation of mind and body are central to this approach.
Scientific research is demonstrating the ability and propensity of the brain to change at any age and that positive brain change can reverse loss of function.
The offers a scientifically based clinical NeuroMovement approach for recovery of function, which is a true paradigm shift. The method takes advantage of the remarkable capacities of the brain to change itself, offering concrete and practical ways to wake up the brain and drive positive changes, changing the trajectory of progress in ways that defy traditional expectations.
Regaining lost function or acquiring new skills and higher level of performance are understood to take place by facilitating the brain’s ability to differentiate and integrate. The method defines Nine Essentials – conditions that reawaken a highly potent process of differentiation and integration and the formation of new patterns of effective action. Each of the Essentials is validated by current brain research.
Dr Michael Merzenich, world renowned neuroscientist wrote: “Scientists have defined the “rules” governing brain plasticity. Anat Baniel, working in parallel along a completely different path, has defined almost exactly the same rules and interprets them in practical and understandable human terms as the Nine Essentials that should contribute richly to clinical intervention.”
N.B Anat Baniel is not a medical doctor, although the conference video mistakenly labels her as a Dr at the beginning
