Dr. Kenneth Elliott, who was kidnapped in West Africa and held in captivity for 7 years, is back home.
Dr Elliott and his wife Jocelyn were kidnapped close to the Niger border in 2016, however, Jocelyn was released after three weeks of captivity.
At the time of the kidnapping, the Islamist terrorist group released an audio statement stating the "motive behind their kidnapping was an attempt to [gain] release of our captives who sit behind bars and suffer the pain of imprisonment, as well as being deprived of their basic rights."
Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed Dr. Elliott arrived back in Australia "safe and well" and has reunited with his wife and children.
