Deirdre McMahon is a finalist for the Teagasc Student of the Year Award 2020. Deirdre completed the Teagasc Distance Education Green Cert programme at Pallaskenry College. She has a degree in nursing and worked as a nurse previously. She is now involved in the operation of her husband’s dairy herd and is fully involved in the decision making and strategic development. Deirdre found the farm planning project, farm management practices, and sustainable farming practices on her course very valuable. She continues to upskill and has completed CPD courses and participates in discussion groups including a women’s discussion group. Her goal is an efficient sustainable dairy farm enterprise.
