Bethanchowk Naryanthan is 84 km away from Kathmandu Valley, situated at the altitude of 3000 meter above sea level. It is considered as the highest place of Mahabharat range and can be reached from 3 different places: one from Dhumkharka, second one is from Kavre and the third one is from Makwanpur. We decided to go from Dhumkharka through Panauti.
In Falgun Purnima, we can see lots of people coming here to worship lord Vishnu.
If weather is clear, we can see clear view of Himalayas like Everest, Ganesh Himal, Manasalu Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang and districts like Makwanpur and Janakpur.
Bethanchowk Narayanthan is getting popularity as an amazing camping destination near Kathmandu valley. In the hilltop, there are no accommodation facilities available, so camping is an option to stay overnight in Bethanchowk. Camping and campfire in Bethanchowk are as astonishing as the nightclub in some busy town. Maybe that’s why camping in some rural mountains is sometimes called the nightclub in the hills.
Bethanchowk is popular for its astonishing sunrise and sunset views. It offers the best sunrise views that reflect the mountain. The sun rising from the east makes the mountains in the west shine. The cloud beneath the mountain and sunrise radiating the golden colour all around, who wouldn’t love to observe the best rays of the time.
Bethanchowk Narayanthan got its name after the enshrined Vishnu deity in the hilltop. There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Bishnu and many people from the neighbouring places visit this place during Bishnu related festivals.
During winter months (December, January, February), Narayanthan observes snowfall. Enjoying the snowfall could also be a wonderful activity in Bethanchowk. However, you need to be aware of the slippery trail.
Bethanchowk boasts incredible natural spectrums. And the homestays in the village are the added beauty. There are some homestays in the Dhungkharka and Panauti which offers an amazing cultural experience. Staying in a homestay provides a home away from home experience.
There are several homestays in Narayanthan such as Bethanchowk Community Homestay, Dhungkharka Homestay, Mount Mahabharat Homestay and Organic Farm etc. However, there are a few more homestays in Panauti that offer the incredible beauty of cultural conundrum and natural beauty.
Bethanchowk is best favourable to visit during the Spring and Autumn months. However, all other months are good to visit except monsoon. But while visiting Bethanchowk, it is very important to check for a weather forecast for the visibility, humidity and climate condition. In good visibility, you can explore the mountain views very clearly and that’s the best part of visiting Bethanchowk.
