Abolish Private Prisons is a non-profit organization located in Phoenix that intends to challenge the constitutionality of prison privatization due to the moral conflicts that arise from the involvement of private prisons in our criminal justice system. They plan on filing a lawsuit to work toward eliminating private prisons in the United States. I spoke to the organization's executive director and founder, John Dacey, to learn more about private prisons and how they contribute to mass incarceration. Dacey explained the ethical issues that come with prison privatization and what Abolish Private Prisons does to raise awareness about this important and current issue.
