ABOUT THE BALBOA MOTORHOME:
-THIS RARE 18FT MOTORHOME WAS BUILT BY JENSEN MARINE IN COSTA MESA, CA. A BOATBUILDER, WHO ADDED THE ALL FIBERGLASS MOTORHOME COMPONENT ONTO FORD, DODGE, AND CHEVY VANS FROM 1968-1974. THE CONCEPT WAS THAT IT DOESN’T LEAK AND DOESN’T RATTLE AND WILL NEVER FALL APART! THERE WAS NOT MANY MADE, BUT THE PEOPLE THAT KNOW ABOUT/OWN ONE WILL TELL YOU HOW AMAZING THEY ARE. THE LARGE WINDOWS AND ROOMY LAYOUT GIVE YOU THE OUTDOORSY FEELING. SINCE IT IS A DODGE VAN CHASSIS, THERE IS NO HARD TO FIND PARTS AND ANY MECHANIC CAN WORK ON IT. THIS WAS THE FIRST CLASS B+ MOTORHOME THAT LATER INSPIRED CHINOOKS, AND MANY OTHERS. THEY ARE VERY RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER, THERE MAY BE AS LITTLE AS 50 OF STILL CRUISING AROUND.
THIS IS A REALLY FUN VAN THAT GETS LOTS OF ATTENTION. PEOPLE LOVE IT AND ALWAYS WANT TO HEAR THE STORY AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. I AM A BIG FAN OF CAMPER VANS AND I HAD A VW BUS (look at the price of a vw bus compared to this) WESTFALIA AS MY FIRST CAR, I THAN HAD MANY OTHER CAMPER VANS AND I WILL SAY THIS IS BY FAR BETTER THAN ANYTHING OUT THERE. I’VE TRIED THEM ALL. I’D ARGUE IT TO BE BETTER THAN A SPRINTER VAN! MUCH COOLER THATS FOR SURE! I HAVE RESTORED A COUPLE OF THEM AND THEY ALL CRUISE THE CALIFORNIA COAST. I STILL OWN MY CHEVY BALBOA, AND I'LL PROBABLY NEVER SELL IT.
I BUILD, RESTORE, AND TRAVEL IN VINTAGE CAMPERS, MODERN SPRINTER CONVERSIONS, AND AIRSTREAMS. THIS WAS A BIG PROJECT THAT I JUST HAD TO DO AND OF ALL THE BUILDS I'VE DONE ( SEE @FREEDOMVESSEL ON INSTAGRAM) THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE.
