It is a very common and easy to make recipe in Odisha. This recipe is made with badi , potatoes and besara (paste of soaked mustard seeds, cumin seeds, ginger, garlic and dry red chili). As it is a side dish can be served with plain rice or pakhala (water rice). It can be eaten in both lunch and dinner.
Ingredients:
1. Badi - 5 medium
2. Diced tomato - 1 medium or 1/2 cup
3. Diced onion - 1 small or 1/4 cup
4. Diced potato - 1 medium or 1/2 cup
5. Sliced green chili - 1 or add as required
6. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
8. Kashmiri red chili powder - 1 tbsp
9. Meat masala - 1/2 tbsp
10. Besara (paste of soaked mustard seeds , cumin seeds , ginger , garlic , and dry red chili )
* Ginger - 1 inch
* Garlic cloves 3-4
* Dry red chili - 1
* Mustard seeds - 2 tbsp
* Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Soak all the ingredients for 2 hours
11. Salt to taste
12. Cooking oil
13. Water - 1 glass
