World Teacher Day is Oct. 5, a date meant to celebrate the work of teachers but a new report by the UN agency, UNESCO, says the world is still falling short of its goal to provide primary and secondary education for all by 2030 - including in North America.
One-third of the shortfall is in sub-Saharan Africa, with 15 million teachers needed, but North America and Europe make up the third largest shortage of 4.8 million needed to fill the gap.
Sean Previl takes a look at what UNESCO is encouraging to meet the goal, and what one education researcher says needs to change to help bring in more people to the profession.
