Acting Prime Minister, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum participated as a panelist on Building a Resilient Blue Pacific: perspective on how infrastructure investment can support Pacific Peoples livelihoods well-being held at The University of the South Pacific, Japan ICT center this evening.
Speaking during a panel discussion, Hon. Attorney-General urged the ministers present at the seminar the need to mainstream and recognised building resilience into their national policy planning and also development planning.
A-G said for Fiji, the Ministry of Economy looks after this climate change policies and projects so that they are able to infiltrate climate change discipline in the budgetary process of the country.
He also urged the ministers that there needs to be transparency in the measurement of vulnerability.
Also present at the panel discussions was Cook Islands Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Hon. Mark Brown, Samoa’s Minister for Finance Hon. Sili Epa Tuioti, ADB Professor Yasuyuki Sawada and Australia’s Head of Delegation and Chief Advisor International Policy and Engagement, Treasury Mr. Chris Legg.
The event is jointly organized by PIFS and the University of the South Pacific (USP).
