At 8pm on Monday, July 23, a subsidiary dam on the Xe Pian Xe Namnoy hydropower complex in southern Laos burst. At least 39 people are dead and 97 people are still missing.
Update: The video incorrectly states that the dam unleashed a 5 billion cubic metre surge of water. It was actually hundreds of millions of cubic metres of water.
