Stocking a 40 - 75 gallon tank, which would be my top 7 fish picks? This is a question that I'm often asked.
Selecting fish for your mid-sized tank can get confusing. So many beautiful fish to choose from. But a wrong choice, a fish that gets too big too fast, one that is too aggressive or requires far different water conditions, can create big problems down the line.
Here are my 7 choices of fish that I would include in a new 40 to 70 gallon tank. My criteria included compatibility (shouldn't kill each or or harass each other too much), eventual size (after a year or two of growing out), diet requirements (there should be similarities in needed nutrition), rate of growth (one will not become a monster and bully the rest of the tank) and color - so you have fish that POP and have that "wow" factor (and people ask you, "Is this a salt water tank?").
And stay tuned for the end of the video where I share with you a "pro tip" to make sure that this combination of fish stay together in the most compatible and peaceful manner possible. I learned this the hard way ... so you don't have to.
I hope you enjoy this list and certainly share with me any fish you would add to my 7. Comment below, be part of that "convo gang" because, "We all learn from each other!"
