It has been 27 years since the atrocities committed against the Tutsi in 1994. However, Rwandans continue to unravel the wrath that swept through our nation.
While statistics have generally reported that between 800,000 to 1,000,000 Tutsis were slaughtered during those gruesome days, the numbers are higher. This is evidenced by the that additional massive grave sites continue to be identified and located to this day. So, for those who purport to deny the atrocities, the evidence speaks for itself.
It has been a difficult journey for Rwandans, particularly for the survivors of 1994. However, we are a resilient people, unified by love, prepared by the history that binds us, and strengthened by a great leadership rooted in the understanding of our self-worth.
So, take heart my brothers and sisters, be strong and be courageous. Turikumwe!
