One Minute Bunkai: You asked for it, you got it. Many of you were very interested to see more applications featuring Gedan Barai. I have included here some of my favorite Barai applications, some are direct, others are indirect as a secondary application but they are all equally good. This is a "jack of all trades" used as a strike, controller, and to knock down and throw your opponent. An effective and versatile technique, you can just about do anything with it. It is the "BIG" swinging sledge hammer of karate, a favorite of ours for sure. You can use the outside and the inside of the forearm equally effective, Gedan Barai always takes care of business, don't leave home without it!
