Piccolo is a 2 week old Grey-Headed Flying-Fox baby who was found on the ground and thought to be dead. It was only when someone noticed that he was moving that rescue was called.
At this time of the year, a 2 week old baby is unusual.
He has had a tricky start to his time in care; he was potentially attacked by a cat so he's on prophylactic antibiotics. He has been quite dehydrated and unwell and has required a lot of fluid therapy with analgesia. Various bits of him have swelled, including his toes and foot and ankle then his wrists were puffy, but somehow he's continued fighting on, slowly drinking better and being a little more alert. I'd forgotten what it was like to have such a little baby in care. Compared with the robustly growing other babies in my care, little Piccolo is tiny.
