It has been long due for a return visit to Slimbridge but worth waiting because it is one of the best reserves in Britain to see in the winter time. It is when both the wildfowl and the wading birds will be at their most numerous, and if you are very fortunate they may even be some exciting and surprising species to encounter. The WWT's mascot bird, the Bewick's Swan (and sadly now Britain's rarest swan 😢) also make Slimbridge their home for overwintering, and if you click the link below you will get to see them and many more wildfowl in action during their sunset feed.
My notable sightings for me are the Bewick Swans, Wigeon flock, Curlews, Lapwings, Redshanks, Cranes displaying and for the first time ever on my videos, a Water Rail!
