As a follow on from the last video we take a look around the interior of the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Black Bourton, Oxfordshire.
There are some fantastic Medieval wall paintings that are 13th century work and they were lost for many years after the Restoration, covered in whitewash. They were rediscovered by Canon James Lupton in 1866. Lupton's churchwarden and curate recovered the paintings again, against his wishes, and so they remained hidden until re-rediscovered in 1932 by E.W. Tristram.
Of a probable 12th century origin are the tub font and the carved stone pulpit at the eastern end of the nave.
