This week on NTAT, we are taking a dive into our first of the Joyo R series pedals with the first in the series, the R-01 Tauren. The name is based on a mythical series of characters from the Warcraft universe that are part bovine, part human, which will give you an idea what this pedal is aiming for. As far as I can tell, the pedal doesn't use the same fabled buffer that the original was famed for and the gain goes from very subtle to quite a hairy crunch, which was not the favoured role of the original pedal too. It does all through the gain range convincingly, but like the original, excels in the lower gain settings.
Guitar used:
Variax Standard - Mag pickups
Amp:
Fender-style preamp, edge of break up
Celeseon IR (Greenback/V30 blended)

If you have one of these yourself, let me know how you are getting on with it yourself in a comment or a video response, I'd love to hear how it is getting on in your rig through different amps and guitars.
