Why didn't God spare Jephthah's daughter?
Jephthah was a Gileadite and a mighty warrior. After his family rejected him, he fled and settled in Tob.
Some time later, the Ammonites invaded the Israelites, and they quickly went to Jephthah, begging him to be their commander and promising to make him head over all who lived in Gilead, and He agreed.
Jephthah prayed to God to give him a victory and promised God that whatever came out of the door of his house to meet him after he was victorious would be sacrificed and used as a burnt offering.
God gave the Ammonites to Jephthah, but when he returned, his daughter, his only child, came to meet him.
Jephthah cried but had to sacrifice his daughter as promised.
But shouldn't God have spared his daughter's life and allowed Jephthah to sacrifice something else?
