Maxim's MAX12900AATJ+ is an ultra-low-power integrated sensor transmitter that converts PWM data, from a microcontroller, into current over a 4 milliamp to 20 milliamp loop with two, three, or four wire configurations. Operating from a wide input supply range from 4 volts to 36 volts, and with a wide temperature range from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius, this transmitter integrates ten building blocks into a small 5 millimeter by 5 millimeter 32-pin TQFN package. Using the combination of two-PWM signals received from a microcontroller, two conditioner circuits, and an active filter built with an integrated low-power op amp, this sensor transmitter is equivalent to an ultra-low-power, high-resolution, digital-to-analog converter. Ideal applications include remote instrumentation and smart sensors.
