David Cawston was accused of being involved in an armed robbery in 1989. He and the other robbers worked as bouncers for Tony Tucker one of the 3 men murdered at Rettendon in the Range Rover in 1995. Cawston believes Tucker informed the police about the robbery which led to his arrest and conviction so always held a grudge. Whilst making the current Sky documentary two ex detectives read about the robbery and linked it ...without any credible evidence to the murders. For the past 3 years Cawston has sadly suffered with health issues brought on by stress. He spent 2 years and 8 months in a secure unit after staging an armed seige at his home in Norwich. (goog;le) When he saw a you tube video in which one of the ex detectives discussied the murders and the robbery, he was horrified to learn that he had been accused of being involved. (His conviction was quashed on appeal after 3 years in custody which contributed to his poor mental health) He contacted the ex detectives, spoke briefly to them on the telephone and then agreed to be filmed for the Sky documentary. His story was not checked and according to Cawston, he was not given time to tell the background to his story regarding mental health issues he had etc...as the interviewers `fled` straight after asking just a few questions.
