Step by Step!
Today we're looking at a Honda GX160 that's powering an Air Compressor, on a Ridgid 90135A.
I've worked on this engine before, when it needed a carb clean & basic service.
In the video, you'll see me play a clip of the Compressor working perfectly after that service.
My customer then contacted me & mentioned that it would occasionally shut-down after long periods of use.
Once it cooled down, it would fire up & run perfectly again.
He instructed me to replace the coil (regardless of what the old coil tested at).
So I ordered a new coil & when it came in, I installed it.
However, I noticed that the Spark Plug Cap tested at approx. 10,000 Ohms of resistance.
The Spec from Honda says they shouldn't be over 5,000 Ohms.
So I ordered a new cap, tested the new one & then installed it as well.
The new coil tested at approx. 4,800 Ohms.
This means that the old Spark Plug Cap tested at TWICE the amount that Honda recommends.
Coil for Honda GX200 & Under: 30500-ZE1-073
Coil for Honda GX240 & Up: 30500-Z1C-023
Honda Spark Plug Cap: 30700-ZE1-013
