Vernon M. Briggs, Jr. is Emeritus Professor of Labor Economics, School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University. He received his B.S. degree in economics from the University of Maryland and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Michigan State University. Before coming to Cornell in 1978, he taught at the University of Texas at Austin for 14 years.
