Leroy Russell Burrell (born February 21, 1967 in Philadelphia) - American athlete, sprinter, gold medalist of the Olympic Games and the World Championships.
From 1994, husband of sprinter Michelle Finn [1]. Their son Cameron is also involved in athletics [2].
He was most successful as a member of the American 4 x 100 meter relay race, and individually, he had the greatest achievements at a distance of 100 meters:
silver medal of the World Championship (Tokyo 1991)
1st place at the IAAF Grand Prix Final (London 1993)
Burrell was one of the favorites in the final 100 meters run at the Olympic Games in Barcelona (1992), but he made a false start and had to be more careful when starting again than other sprinters, which resulted in a worse starting reaction and ultimately a 5th position at the finish line (according to the rules of the time, everyone the competitor could make one false start).
