In this video we take a look at 2 sets of battles in Season 8 of the Pokemon GO Battle League (GBL) in the Master League Classic featuring Giratina Altered, Groudon and Melmetal.

In today's video we are taking a look at the battles that got me to Expert Rank in Season 8 of the Pokemon GO Battle League during the Master League Classic. With this team I was able to go on a 9-1 run, including a 5-0 in the final set to clinch Expert Rank at 2750+ ELO.

The team I used for this climb consists of a Giratina Altered lead with Dragon Tail Groudon as the safe-switch and Melmetal in the back.

Giratina Altered is one of the thickest Pokémon available in the Master League, I am running the standard move set of Shadow Claw, Dragon Claw and Shadow Sneak. Giratina has a lot of neutral match-ups in the lead spot.

When I find myself up against a difficult lead the usual play will be to swap into my Groudon which is running Dragon Tail. The only one time where I will not swap into Groudon against a bad lead is against Togekiss. In this particular match-up you need to sack the Giratina and then come in to farm with Melmetal. Against almost every other negative lead, Groudon is the safe-switch and many times opponents will actually bring in a Dragonite or Yveltal before realizing we are running Dragon Tail. The worst counter of course would be Kyogre.

Melmetal is the closer in this line-up, providing additional coverage for Dialga which we definitely need since Groudon with Dragon Tail does not perform as well against Dialga as it does with Mud Shot. Melmetal also provides the necessary coverage for Togekiss and some of the other Flying types.

Overall this is a very strong team that is rated A, A, A, B on pvpoke and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to test out a new team for the Master League Classic.
