Xochimilco was one of the 5 Lakes of the Valley where nowadays Mexico City stands. Unfortunately, those lakes are long gone, drained to make room for the development of one of the biggest cities in the world.
But not everything is lost! There is still an area, down south of Mexico City, that has been able to preserve the old Aztec waterways and the best part is that you can still navigate them and imagine how they used to look hundreds of years ago! This area is called Xochimilco, a Nahuatl word meaning "the land of the flowers". Come with me and I'll show you around!
