Part of Interstate 40 West was shut down in Wake County on Tuesday morning after a person was hit and killed on the Interstate. Traffic delays were heavy near the I-440/US-1 interchange in Cary for several hours. Backups stretched to the South Saunders Street exit in Raleigh. This is a developing story.
