2010 09 27 中心舞台- 武术书法舞蹈-黄豆豆. (The titles are wrong: wushu is omitted).
This is the strangest conflation of antonyms I've ever seen, but the juxtaposition says something that will be further worked out in "Mulan" (the Show) in Huang's AC-DC-AC (male paying female playing male), or onnagata as otokogata in Takarazuka -
There IS no overt show of martial arts (=male); all the interest is in high-culture elegance (something that weiqi symbolizes), and of course inkbrush painting (actually writing in cursive) that was the summit of literary expression or validation. And/but also in the inkbrush-stroke like swirlings of "water-sleeve" feminine dance (as in House of Flying Daggers).
One can hardly overlook the obvious: Huang is DANCING BOTH SIDES, male and female: his stock of violent turns and outward arm-moves ARE the martial arts, but they are both clad in oppositional codes, both feminine, gentle, flowing.
Naturally there is no final resolution. Homeo-hetero-sexual fusion or stasis.
