Defunct Games reviews Project Root, out this week on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
Project Root has more in common with Electronic Arts' classic Strike series than the typical shoot-em-up, which is both a blessing and a curse. The action is fast and the levels are massive, but a frustrating lack of checkpoints can see a hour's worth of work burst into flames. When not cursing the screen over cheap deaths, shooter fans will have a fun time exploring the eight stages and taking down massive bosses.
