Adding a user’s phone numbers to their profile is a way to reduce fake and fraudulent account signups. Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook have all started to ask a user for a phone number at registration time and use it to validate their registration. Adding this feature might seem simple, but there are a lot of traps you can fall into that result in costly maintenance and failed verifications.
