Whether walking or running is better for losing weight has been debated for a long time. I've personally tried a lot of running earlier in my fitness journey, and I haven't found running for weight loss to be that enjoyable or worth it considering my goal was to have a lean and muscular physique. My lower body wasn't progressing as much because running a lot impacted my recovery. Walking, on the other hand, was a perfect fit for my routine.
Of course, if your goal is to get ripped, lifting weights and dialing in your nutrition will be the two top priorities. However, another way is to create a larger calorie deficit is to do more walking. Also, you're not just walking to get fit. It has a lot of other cognitive and health benefits. Plus, it's important to note that running to lose fat isn't a good option if you start your journey to getting ripped 30-40 lbs overweight.
