Paul Edison, MD, PhD, MPhil, FRCP, FRCPI, Imperial College London, London, UK, talks on current research looking at microglial activation in the brain to better understand the impact of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease pathology. It is recognized that while microglial activation may have a beneficial effect very early on in the disease course, it has deleterious effects at later stages of disease. Dr Edison also discusses the need for better tracers for PET imaging of microglial activation. This interview took place during the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2021.
