Today, we are going to explore a common experience that many people go through. It's common for us to spiral into thoughts like, “What if I had chosen differently?” or “Should I have taken another path?” Such reflections can ensnare us in a cycle of regret, making it difficult to move on from past decisions. This tendency to contemplate our choices and ponder possible alternatives is a natural aspect of the human experience.
However, it is important to recognize when this mindset becomes unproductive. If you find yourself caught in these thoughts, try to break free from them. For those experiencing this struggle, remember that there is a greater force at play in our lives—a divine force, which some may refer to as God. This divine presence guides us through life, and trusting in this process can bring comfort, even when things seem difficult or uncertain. Believing in a higher plan can help alleviate the burden of regret and allow us to move forward.
Just like everyone else, narcissists also experience the same thoughts of "if," "but," "should," "could," and "would." You may have found yourself thinking, "Maybe I should have left the narcissist sooner," or "If I had done more to support the narcissist." These thoughts can swirl in your mind, and you know firsthand how this feels because it is a common human experience.
However, it is crucial to understand that narcissists often lack a sense of spirituality or trust in a divine process. You do not need to believe in God to recognize the existence of positive and negative energies in the world. Many people can sense the atmosphere of a room when they enter it; they can feel whether the energy is welcoming or hostile. This idea of positive and negative energy is similar to the concept of electrical charges—there are positive and negative forces at work all around us.
Believing in the existence of something good in the world is essential. It is also helpful to understand the duality of good and evil. You strive to be a good person, doing your best despite your imperfections. In contrast, narcissists often embody the darker aspects of this duality. They may manipulate and exploit others for their own gain, showing a lack of empathy or consideration for the feelings of those around them.
