"Pagliacci" (Clowns) is an Italian opera and prologue composed and written by Ruggero Leoncavallo in 1892.
Giuseppe Campanari (1855-1927) Was an Italian Cellist and later, operatic baritone singer. Following his emigration to the United States in 1884, he played first cello for the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
After a period of settling in America, he made a career change to singing and debuted in "Pagliacci" in New York in 1893. He was the first to perform the role of Tonio in the opera in the United States. He later sang at the Metropolitan and remained there until 1912.
In the latter period of his life he taught voice in New York and in the country of his birth, Italy, in Milan.
