Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is holding a news conference to close the Amazon deforestation summit.
Leaders from eight South American countries and a French territory that include parts of the Amazon rainforest have been meeting to discuss the Amazon for the first time in 13 years.
This summit is an effort to revive the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization and comes at a time when the Amazon, the world's largest rainforest that is home to numerous Indigenous peoples, is seeing increasing threats from climate change, deforestation and illegal mining.
