The effluent from the aeration tanks (Mixed Liquor or ML) is conveyed to the secondary settling tanks where the sludge is separated and recycled to the bio-reactor tank (anaerobic zone) and the surplus sludge is pumped to the thickeners, and then to the dehydrators or drying beds.
