Slough Town progressed in the FA Trophy at the expense of their South and West League opposition as they overcame the barrier of playing with ten men for over a half following the dismissal of Sean Sonner.
Slough took an early lead through Ed Smith (not shown) and had to withstand pressure from the away side, but they struggled to breakthrough a disciplined Rebels defence to get clear sight of James Warrington's goal.
Sonner's dismissal came minutes before half time as he miscontrolled a pass before an aggressive tackle on Bradley Gray sparked a heated responsed from the Hungerford bench and led to his sending off.
Despite having a man less and less of the ball, Slough looked the more dangerous of the two sides, countering well with Burnell, Smith and Burgess the catalysts for many attacks.
They extended their lead with two mintues remaining as Swift hit a dipping shot which changed flight in the air to deceive Strudley in the Hungerford goal before Hopper hit back in injury time, but it was no more than a consolation for the visitors.
