Day 2 of a camping trip I took to in Stonehaven.
Stonehaven lies to the south of Aberdeen on the North East Coast of Scotland.
Today was all about putting on the boots and heading to the famous Dunottar Castle. Very picture postcard castle.
The buildings are largely of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been fortified in the Early Middle Ages. Dunnottar has played a prominent role in the history of Scotland through to the 18th-century Jacobite risings because of its strategic location and defensive strength. Dunnottar is best known as the place where the Scottish crown jewels, were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's invading army in the 17th century.
Then onto Dunottar Woods.
Dunnottar Woods is a wonderful woodland for all the family to enjoy with wildlife, a rich diversity of wild flowers, and many historical features such as Lady Kennedy's Bath and the Shell House.
The 'bath' was built by Lady Kennedy of Dunnottar though it is not known whether she used it herself or whether it was for her children.
The last part was The Tolbooth Museum at the harbourside
