Defective NEW Valeo A/C Compressor!
I had a NEW (not re-built) Valeo A/C Compressor for my Ford F-150 installed by a local auto mechanic company a few months ago. Just 2-days ago i lost partial power driving on a highway and almost got smashed by a large truck. I grazed the middle island where i hit my head against my door & damaged my prescription glasses. I was lucky that it didn't turn out worse. After pulling over the compressor was badly smoking.
This video was made by me after 5 minutes after pulling over. Because of the problems this defective unit caused me i lost out of 2 days of work, my heads still aches, and i have to order a new corrective lens all because Valeo sold a defective factory unit that was installed into my vehicle. My mechanic was nice enough to install another unit for me FREE and comped the labor, re-charged the refrigerant & got me my car rental.
God bless good people like my mechanic! I'm sure Valeo makes decent components but wanted to post this because it's unfair that i suffered pain & loss of income-not to mention my prescription glasses repair because the new Valeo compressor unit failed to operate safely within a few months (and i rarely use the AC as well).
Still it's better to spend the extra bucks to purchase a new unit rather then a rebuilt. I was just the "unlucky" one who ended-up with a factory defective unit.
UPDATE
The new unit that replaced the other new unit was defective, again, only a few months latter. Unbelievable!
