Oscar Merchan is a lawyer with a Master's degree in International Law from Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia and a professor of international law at the same university. Former national champion of the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition and awarded Best Oralist in the Colombian Rounds; served as Judge in both National and International Rounds of the Jessup. Currently, he is the coach of Universidad de La Sabana's team, case author, and co-administrator of the Ibero-American International Humanitarian Law Competition in the 2020-2022 editions.
Additionally, he serves as the Coordinator of International Affairs and International Cooperation at the Office of Institutional and International Liaison and Legislative Monitoring of the Superior Council of the Judiciary of Colombia. He previously worked as a lawyer on international law matters for the Congress of the Republic and was a junior associate in litigation at a Colombian law firm internationally recognized.
